Humentum and TrustLaw, the global pro bono program of the Thomson Reuters Foundation, invite you to join their webinar series on the #metoo movement and its legal perspectives for nonprofits. The series will raise awareness among non-profits and give them the legal tools they need to prevent discrimination and sexual harassment, and promote equality and pay equity.
What are the legal perspectives of the #MeToo movement? Allegations of sexual harassment and abuse among the non-profit sector have highlighted the importance for organizations to lock in their commitment to prevent discrimination and sexual misconduct, by strengthening for example their governance documents.
The presenter will examine how unconscious bias in the workplace is still a major factor in discrimination and sexual harassment and how to prevent it with a moderated Q&A exchange.
Amal Bouchenaki, Partner, Herbert Smith Freehills
Amal practices international arbitration in the New York office of Herbert Smith Freehills. She advises on complex, multi-tiered treaty based arbitration proceedings and international commercial arbitrations conducted under a variety of the major arbitration rules; such as ICSID, CAFTA-DR, UNCITRAL, ICC, LCIA, ICDR. Trained in both the civil law and common law systems, Amal has handled disputes involving an array of complex procedural and substantive issues and industry sectors, including, technology, telecommunications, and energy-related disputes. Amal is co-leading the law firm’s pro bono practice in New York and is also involved in the Diversity and Inclusion Regional Group.
