USAID Rules & Regulations: Grants & Cooperative Agreements

USAID Rules & Regulations: Grants & Cooperative Agreements

Want stronger impact? Start with the regulations.

This workshop is available in English, French, and Spanish

Whether you are new to USAID funding or have years of program experience, this highly participatory workshop will show you how to apply the regulations to benefit your project, staff and organization.

Our expert facilitators take you step by step through the regulations and show you how to interpret key concepts in the administrative requirements, cost principles, and standard provisions. You will return to your project able to find answers to questions about your award – from “are laptops allowable” to “does my international trip need prior approval” to “how do I dispose of a vehicle?” In addition to maintaining donor compliance, you’ll also learn how to build strong working relationships with USAID and develop policies for successful management of your grant or cooperative agreement.

What will you learn?

By the end of this workshop, learners will be able to:

  • navigate up-to-date USAID rules and regulations with the confidence to find answers, solve common issues and manage audit findings
  • confidently collaborate and negotiate with key USAID staff, including the AO/AOR
  • know why, how and when to submit prior approvals, waivers and extensions – and understand how to use them to save time and money
  • understand how your organization’s policies and procedures are critical to effective project implementation – and how to make them more efficient

Who should attend?

This workshop is designed for:

  • Anyone managing or bidding on a USAID grant or cooperative agreement from finance, compliance, program, administrative or new business development teams
  • Independent auditors or CPAs who perform compliance or financial audits within the development sector
  • USAID staff, especially Agreement Officers and Agreement Officer’s Representatives

Have you heard? This workshop can also help you with regulations that apply across US Government funding agencies. However, if you have a USAID contract, you should attend our USAID Contract Management workshop.

Still not sure? Feel free to contact us and we’ll help you!

Do you know that the cost of the training is covered under your grant or cooperative agreement?

Yes, 2 CFR 200.472 says, “The cost of training and education provided for employee development is allowable”. Even if this was not budgeted, you will learn that the regulations give you flexibility to manage and revise your budget.
