This workshop is available as an online English workshop, in-person English workshop, online French workshop, and in-person French workshop.

This highly participatory workshop helps individuals and organizations develop, implement, and maintain effective financial management systems to be eligible for USAID funding, reduce audit risk, and build effective collaboration across the organization.

Our expert facilitators will offer you and your team the most comprehensive knowledge of the fundamentals of financial management of USAID funding, including budget management, maximizing cost recovery, and how to deal with donor audits and reviews.

  • Develop and manage budgets in support of programmatic success
  • Compile and assess accurate financial statements
  • Identify financial system basics required to be eligible for USAID funding
  • Prepare and manage the audit process according to funding guidelines
  • Apply methods for recovering indirect costs

Who should attend?

This workshop is designed for:

Finance, compliance, and program staff who manage budgets and reconcile activity costs with program budgets. (It’s highly recommended that both finance and program staff from within an organization attend together).

Pre-requisite: USAID Rules & Regulations: Grants and Cooperative Agreements or USAID Contract Management for NGOs: An Introduction.

This workshop forms part of the Humentum Certificate in USAID Assistance Management. Whether you are just starting your career in assistance management and compliance, work on a USAID-funded program, or have many years of experience, this certificate demonstrates your commitment to continued learning and professional excellence in your field.

Continuing Professional Education Credits (CPE)

 

In-person Workshop: Successful completion of this workshop awards 15.6 CPE credits and a certificate of attendance. The course level is basic. The delivery method of this program is Group Live and the Field of Study is Specialized Knowledge. Humentum is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors.

Online Workshop: You will not receive CPE credits for the eWorkshop.

Online Workshop: Humentum’s highly practical, structured and in-depth eWorkshops always put the learner first. Working together with a small cohort of peers from around the world in a social network style environment, you will discover relevant tools and techniques through engaging videos, readings and assignments. You will have a dedicated, expert facilitator to guide you on your learning journey, provide feedback, and always ready to answer your specific questions to further enhance your learning.

How does an eWorkshop work?

The eWorkshop is open for a set number of weeks, and you must log-in each week to complete assignments and reach weekly deadlines. Once online, you’ll find our eWorkshop platform easy to navigate, with clear guides and instructions. You’ll need to earn points for completing various tasks (such as watching videos, uploading assignments, and interacting with others). The more tasks you complete, the more points you’ll earn. You’ll need to reach a minimum target points score, submit assignments and contribute to discussions in order to pass the workshop.

We estimate this workshop requires 5-7 hours per week, depending on your pace of learning, and previous experience.
