Shannon Meehan has worked in complex emergencies in the humanitarian field and other international development projects for more than 30 years, implementing missions in Afghanistan, Senegal, Guinea, Liberia, Côte d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Sudan, the DR Congo, Rwanda, Uganda, Somalia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and in the Middle East: Kuwait, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria and Iraq. At these missions Shannon served in many positions: Country Director, Director of Operations, Chief of Party, Director of Administrative and Finance, and Program Officer. Shannon is also known for her expert training skills to international audiences: from humanitarian workers and government officials to multi-national military and community leaders.
Shannon has been a trainer for Humentum since 2014. Her training topics are: USAID Rules and Regulations for Grants and Cooperative Agreements. Introduction to Contracts: the FAR and AIDAR, Financial Management for U.S. Government Funding, Proposal Development and Budgeting, Full Cost Recovery: Understanding Indirect Costs, Procurement for U.S. Government Funding and Compliance for Senior Leaders. Shannon currently is an international development consultant focusing on international operations and humanitarian interventions. Her humanitarian work was highlighted in the book, Those Who Dare, by Katherine Martin (2004). Shannon has also written for the Humentum blog on the topic of Protecting funding.
