PSEAH and Safeguarding Compliance for Partners

PSEAH and Safeguarding Compliance for Partners

The workshop to improve your organization’s PSEAH and safeguarding policies and practices.

This workshop is available as an In-person English workshop.

In the wake of sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment perpetrated by aid workers as high-lighted by the #MeToo and #AidToo movements, many donors such as USAID, DFID, and UN agencies developed new or revised protection from sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (PSEAH) and safeguarding compliance standards for their partners. Their emphasis has been on policies and practices that are survivor centered, including ensuring aid recipients know their rights, addressing staff-on-staff harassment, pursuing perpetrators, and improving accountability and transparency. These donors also expect NGO lead agencies to make sure that their own partners comply with the new standards. Many partners of NGO lead agencies are national NGOs that may have limited resources to implement PSEAH policies and other safeguarding standards. This problem has been difficult for many lead agencies to address.

In this highly participatory workshop, we help you identify any gaps in your current organization’s PSEAH and safeguarding standards and practices; support your partners to come into donor compliance with the new standards; and show you how to design safeguarding systems that bring about positive outcomes. Our expert facilitator, a certified human resources professional with extensive PSEAH and safeguarding experience, will get you to audit your current policies and practices for compliance and accountability, draft compliance guidelines for partners that mirror your own safeguarding standards; and develop partner implementation support plans and timelines that are practical and achievable.
