Jay Mehta

Manager, IT

Jay Mehta joined Humentum in March 2012 as the organization’s IT manager. He is responsible for procuring, implementing, and supporting all aspects of our technology operations, including the development of internal applications. Prior to joining Humentum full-time, Jay ran a small consulting firm specializing in process design and technical requirements production. In this capacity, Jay worked with non-profit clients–including Humentum (when it was operating as Humentum).

A longtime resident of the Alabama Gulf Coast, Jay once spent three years commuting to Mississippi five days per week, working for private contractors tasked with implementing the state’s Hurricane Katrina recovery programs. In that time, Jay wrote policy documents for the $5.5 billion HUD-funded program, documented the requirements to disburse grant and loan funds, translated those requirements into technical documents for developers, and documented the functioning of the IT systems for audit and for internal training purposes. Jay lives in Alexandria, Virginia, which he laments is just far enough north to not be able to easily get many of his favorite things from down home, like a decent peach or a bag of Golden Flake potato chips.

What are your favorite hobbies outside of work?

I collect baseball bobbleheads, primarily from the San Francisco Giants–my first baseball love–and the Nationals, but any quirky bobblehead will do.

What is your favorite band or music artist?

Bruce Springsteen–I recently saw him live for the 50th time. Beyond that, Ryan Adams, the Old 97s, and Dwight Yoakam.

What is your favorite ice cream flavor? Or dessert in general?

As a southerner, I’d have to say a good banana pudding.
