Humentum Announces New Additions to Board of Directors

WASHINGTON, DC – Humentum is pleased to announce the addition of two new members to its Board of Directors:  Joyce Tamale and Saba Al Mubaslat.

Joyce Tamale (at right) is a fellow of the global Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), a Certified Public Accountant in Uganda, a social marketer, and an activist with more than 18 years of experience working in the NGO sector in several countries. Currently she serves as the managing director of the Uganda Health Marketing Group (UHMG), a leading social marketing organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for Ugandans through the provision of superior and affordable health care solutions. Prior to her current role, she served as UHMG’s Director of finance and investment for five years, laying the foundation for a sustainable organization. She previously worked with organizations including the Eastern African Sub-Regional Support Initiative for the Advancement of Women (EASSI), Save the Children, and PriceWaterhouse Coopers (PwC). She currently chairs the Forum for Women in Democracy (FOWODE) and the Business Strategy Committee of the Uganda Health Care Federation Board.

“I am delighted to join the Humentum Board because I believe in their vision, which resonates with my personal values as a social marketer and a fellow of the ACCA,” said Ms. Tamale. “I envisage fabulous times ahead while working with the CEO and all the board members to add value, change the world, and move Humentum forward.”

Saba Al Mubaslat (at right) joined the Humanitarian Leadership Academy as the first CEO in September 2015 after 22 years of frontline response to humanitarian crises. Based in London, UK, the Academy is a global learning initiative designed to enable people to prepare for and respond to crises in their own countries and has regional centers in the Philippines, East Africa, the Middle East, Bangladesh, and Indonesia. Prior to the Academy, Saba was the country director for Save the Children Jordan, responsible for the overall direction, leadership, and coordination of the organization’s programs in Jordan for both development and humanitarian response. She has also worked with different government entities in the Middle East on shaping their national agendas and redefining the focus on resilience, youth, and communities’ positive engagement and leadership.

“I admire the work of Humentum and am truly honored to be joining their board,” said Ms. Al Mubaslat. “The Humanitarian Leadership Academy and Humentum share common values and are committed to building the capacity of local organizations and professionalizing the humanitarian sector. I very much look forward to working with my fellow board members to ensure that we deliver on these commitments.”

“We are delighted to welcome Joyce and Saba to the Humentum board,” said Humentum Chairman Richard Collier-Keywood. “Our services must be relevant to and accessible by local NGOs across the world and their experience of working in the Middle East and Africa in particular will help our Board to continue to focus on this goal.”

Humentum CEO Tom Dente added, “Joyce and Saba's commitment to operational excellence across our changing sector, and their expertise in helping other organizations achieve sustainable impact align with our own values. As Humentum aims to connect NGOs and support operational capabilities closest to the point of local impact, we greatly value the insights and knowledge they bring.”

Humentum delivers nearly 400 learning events a year around the world—both face-to-face and online—on topics including compliance, financial management, and project management, and also offers consulting and recruiting services to the sector.
