Best Practices for Managing Donor Funding

Best Practices for Managing Donor Funding

This workshop is available in the following formats: In-Person, English and Online Flex, English.

Managing donor funding requires best practice systems and processes to ensure compliance and deliver impact. Developing a strong organizational approach will help you meet any donor's requirements. This workshop explores the best practices for seeking, negotiating, and managing donor funding. First, you will examine the factors to consider when deciding to pursue funding from donors. Then, you will learn the five core systems to have in place to effectively manage donor funding through each of the key project phases: negotiation, start-up, implementation, and close-out.

Our expert facilitators also cover managing donor relationships from the proposal stage to close-out, including key considerations for developing and maintain productive working relationships. Each topic will be examined from the perspective of senior leadership, program staff, and operational staff using real life scenarios to exemplify the key phases and components of managing an award.

What will you learn?

By the end of this workshop, learners will be able to:

  • Recommend best practices when working in the donor community
  • Manage core components of program implementation when donor funds are being used
  • Identify risks when working with donors
  • Use tools, templates, and documentation to manage risks when working with donors

How does a Flex workshop work?

The Flex workshop is open for a set number of weeks, and you can log-in at any time that suits you, and work at your own pace. Once online, you’ll find our Flex Workshop platform easy to navigate, with clear guides and instructions.

You’ll need to earn points for completing various tasks (such as watching videos, uploading assignments, and interacting with others). The more tasks you complete, the more points you’ll earn. The quicker you earn these points, the sooner you’ll be able to complete the workshop!

We estimate this workshop requires 2 hours per module (5 modules in total), depending on your pace of learning, and previous experience.
