Tom graduated from Harvard College with a degree in Classics and Government and studied the history of African customary law at the University of Cape Town. Tom has served on the boards of non-profit organisations dealing with human rights, the prevention of child abuse and neglect, adult basic education and training, and psycho-social assistance for torture survivors. He currently serves on the board of OxYGen an Armenian organisation that focuses on women and youth empowerment and has recently been appointed to the board of Inyathelo, the South African institute for philanthropy.
Tom Winslow is a Humentum Associate with more than 25 years of experience in the non-profit sector, specialising in resource mobilisation, strategy development, business planning, change management, and strategic communications. Tom previously worked as head of Programme Funding and Partnerships at Oxfam GB where he was responsible for securing more than GBP 200 million per annum in funding from institutional donors. He worked at Save the Children UK as regional business development manager for East and Southern Africa and at ActionAid International as head of international partnerships department. He is the former director of development of the Legal Resources Centre, South Africa's leading public interest law centre; and the co-founder of the Trauma Centre for Survivors of Violence and Torture in Cape Town. He started a reintegration programme for newly released political prisoners from Robben Island during South Africa's transition to democracy. He currently lives in Johannesburg.
