Radhika Suri is a senior finance professional with over 12 years’ experience in the development and aid sector having worked for International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGO) in Kenya and the United Kingdom. She has also worked for Ernst and Young in the Audit and Assurance line of service with specific focus on not for profit institutions. Radhika’s experience encompasses multi donor grant management, internal audit, proposal development, consortiums and individual proposals, systems and policy development, due diligence, structuring cross-border transactions and building capacity within the team (in finance and beyond). This experience has been built over the years stretching across a variety of sub-sectors including agriculture, agri-business, civil societies, development, health and relief/emergency response organizations. She has served at senior levels in these organizations providing management and strategic guidance.
Radhika advised a prominent INGO on design/development/roll out of project finance toolkits, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles(GAAP) and good financial grant practices(GFGP) best practices, to their country programs across Africa. The toolkits considered broad finance parameters in their design, including but not limited to risk management, internal controls, accounting systems configuration, personnel management, donor contract management and financial sustainability. She coordinated delivery of this mandate with the multiple country program representatives and regional management to achieve a final outcome of identification of resource requirements and cross cutting issues, including development of individual country action plans to achieve/overcome some of the issues sighted from the toolkit results and thus improve organizational standards as a whole. She has also been involved in providing finance and administration capacity-building support to civil societies. This has been through a broad assessment framework from governance aspects, staffing and all the way to financial reporting systems. The review was delivered through assessment of the organization’s position using various parameters that led to identifying gaps and resources required to bridge them -and revisiting the assessment after regular intervals to assess the overall improvement. Radhika coordinated and lead on regular trainings to individual staff and teams (one-on-one and in groups as well on need bases) over a period. This involved all levels of management from CEO, Management to junior level staff. The outcome- improved streamlined financial and overall systems and structures in the organization and in staff capacity- for non-finance and finance staff.
